Alam Sutera Projects GWK Cultural Park as an International Standard Multi Event Venue

FINAL ‘MELASPAS’ RITUAL ON GWK STATUE CONSTRUCTION BEFORE OFFICIATED

BALI – As final phase in the recent completion of Garuda Wisnu Kencana (GWK) statue construction, PT Alam Sutera Realty Tbk. (Alam Sutera) held the ‘Melaspas’ ritual today at GWK Cultural Park, Ungasan, Badung, Bali.

Melaspas is a Hindu Dharma purification ritual to cleanse buildings at a spiritual level. The Hindu religion believes in the world of the seen or Sekala, where the real world can be visibly seen in its physical form, and the unseen or Niskala, where the world can not be seen but is present and sensed. This Niskala world is believed to create energy in the form of spirit to the Sekala world, so the Sekala and Niskala world exists as an inseparable unity and complement each other, thus giving birth to Taksu or the balance of spiritual energy which brings good.

The Melaspas Ritual will be attended by Coordinator Minister for Maritime Republik of Indonesia, Bapak Jenderal TNI (Purn.) Luhut Binsar Panjaitan. President Commissioner of PT Garuda Adhimatra Indonesia, Mayjen TNI (Purn) Sang Nyoman Suwisma, and Bapak Haryanto Tirtohadiguno, President Commissioner of Alam Sutera Group.

This Melaspas Ritual is the last series of rituals, following of the Pasupati ritual held before on the GWK Statue Pedestal Plaza lobby for placement of the GWK Statue crown in May 2018. The Pasupati ceremony held when placing Wisnu’s crown depicted the request for blessings from God or Sang Hyang Widhi Wasa to give positive universal life and good energy in the Bhuwana Agung universe, upon that which has been built and developed by Alam Sutera at GWK Cultural Park.

The ritual starts with Resigana ceremony, with a tradition called Tawur Sumpah Utama, to be more beautiful and harmonic as a symbol of uniting energy from the Pedestal Plaza building and Garuda Wisnu Kencana statue, that come from land uses, buildings and other facilities that have been done in 2013. This ceremony harmonizes the dynamic between Bhuwana Agung (Macro cosmos or universe) and Bhuwana Alit (Micro cosmos or the human beings).

Fundamentally, the traditional and religious ritual series aim to foster harmony between GWK Cultural Park and Garuda Wisnu Kencana statue, with the surrounding nature and humans. With this ritual, Alam Sutera and GWK Cultural Park have fulfilled the traditional requirements and adhered to Balinese community cultural wisdom.

Sang Nyoman Suwisma as corporate president commissioner has coordinated with Ida Pedanda Gede Ngurah Putra Keniten as the Jaya Maya Karya (Pemuput Karya), to pray so the during the entire traditional and religious ritual will go smooth and well, and bring good to all stakeholders involved in doing the activities, service, and business, as it has received the blessings both in Sekala and Niskala way.
In 2012, Alam Sutera acquired ownership of GWK Cultural Park area. Alam Sutera conducted various area improvements to develop GWK Cultural Park as the best cultural and tourism destination in Bali and build the Garuda Wisnu Kencana statue comprehensively towards perfection.

Garuda Wisnu Kencana statue which is set to be the nation’s cultural icon has been completed. This statue is the largest statue in the world and 3rd highest in the world. The entire Garuda Wisnu Kencana statue rises at a height of 121 meters on top of a pedestal. With the wing span of 64 meters, Bali’s landmark icon stands proudly on the top of Ungasan hill, inside GWK Cultural Park area. To create the Garuda Wisnu Kencana statue, Alam Sutera conducted a number of technical tests to get the accurate configuration, including the wind tunnel test in Melbourne and Toronto. Construction consultants were brought in to ensure the pedestal that was the statue’s foundation was technically sound.

“I hope the Garuda Wisnu Kencana statue can be enjoyed by all the people as one of the great cultural heritage of the world, like Borobudur and Prambanan temple. It is wonderful and will bring positive impact from an art, culture, and tourism perspective and can provide meaningful contribution to improve the public’s social and economy sector, for Bali specifically and Indonesia in general. I also hope all related stakeholders continue to work together, in order to protect and preserve this Garuda Wisnu Kencana statue, so it can be enjoyed as well by future generations”, says President Commissioner of Alam Sutera Group, Haryanto Tirtohadiguno, for his prayers and wishes, after the Melaspas ritual.

With the Melaspas ceremony held today, the traditional and religious ritual is complete, starting from Resi Gana and Pasupati ritual conducted previously. Therefore the Garuda Wisnu Kencana statue is now ready to be officiated.

Alam Sutera uses GWK acquisition momentum as a step to diversify business into tourism sector, as it is already well known as a property developer for Alam Sutera, Suvarna Sutera, that consists of residence, apartment, offices, mal and shops (ruko).

Alam Sutera will develop GWK Cultural Park complex which is set on a 60 hectare land, as a tourism destination with its GWK statue, as well as facilitate cultural expressions that is ready to host international standard cultural multi events, indoor or outdoor that can accommodate up to 40,000 people.
