Chef Eka Buana Wins The 2013 Fonterra Pastry and Cooking Competition Challenge

Nusa Dua, Bali (Paradiso) – Junior Pastry Sous Chef Eka Buana returned from The 2013 Fonterra Challenge in Bali placing first in the Pastry Challenge. As the winner, Chef Eka received a cash prize of US$ 1,000 and an overseas training program. The competition was held on Thursday, November 7th, 2013 at the Bali Tourism Institute (Sekolah Tinggi Pariwisata).

The Pastry challenge required contestants to complete three pastry items within three hours of preparation and cooking time: one fully decorated 20-centimeter cake, another 20-centimeter cake without decoration and frosting for judge tasting, and three plates of one signature dessert. Chef Eka’s Cream Cheese Mouse with apricot ravioli, pistachio sponge, crumble, and finished with sesame tuille won the judges’ votes.
