BALI – Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy / Head of the Tourism and Creative Economy Agency, Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno, on the last day of the second week his office in Bali conducted a review of the Bali Maritime Tourism Hub (BMTH) development project in the Benoa Harbor Area, Saturday ( 13/2/2021).
The Bali Maritime Tourism Hub is one of the strategic projects that Pelindo III is working on through rearranging Bali’s Benoa Harbor to become a maritime tourism and cruise terminal hub or the largest cruise ship in Indonesia. BMTH development will separate goods service activities and tourism services. Tourism Hubs such as a yacht marina, cruise terminal and theme park will be located in South Benoa, while energy terminals such as LNG Terminal, Liquid Cargo Storage will be in North Benoa.
“Today we see the progress of preparing the Bali Maritime Tourism Hub. In this review, the Menparekraf saw various supporting facilities for passengers as well as tourists. Starting from the departure area, immigration and others, as well as the roadmap for the BMTH development plan which is targeted for completion by the end of 2023. Through the construction of BMTH, it will be able to increase accessibility, safety and security for cruise ships, which were originally 280 meters long to 350 meters (which can accommodate a total of 6,000 passengers).
This is able to support efforts to increase domestic tourist visits and foreign tourists to grow the Bali maritime tourism industry. As a maritime hub, BMTH will also provide berth facilities for yachts on the west side with facilities such as Wet Berth, Dry Berth, Yacht Club, Sport Facility, Lounge and bar, as well as supporting facilities such as the Bali Fish Market and retail UMKM.
The contribution of BMTH is expected to increase domestic tourist visits by 427,723 people and foreign tourists by 133,777 people in 2023.
Legend of the Sea has become the biggest cruiser to have docked here, and there is one opportunity in 2019 that two large cruise ships dock at the same time. Chairman of KADIN Rosan P. Roeslani said the COVID-19 pandemic presents an extraordinary challenge. However, infrastructure development, including those related to tourism, must continue.
“We know that COVID will eventually end, and moreover we are an archipelago but we do not yet have a single international standard yacht dock. This (international standard yacht pier) hopes that it will be in Bali and will have a positive impact not only on tourism, but also. creative industries and SMEs, “said Rosan.
Meanwhile, the CEO of Pelindo III Bali Nusra, I Wayan Eka Saputra, said that the progress of BMTH development had reached 10 percent since it started in mid-December 2020. In total there will be 15 work packages targeted for completion by the end of 2023. He explained, in 2019 there were a total of 67 cruise liners with a total of 65,000 tourists.
However, in 2020, only 25 cruise ships leaned back due to the COVID pandemic. “On average, tourists only lean in for 8 hours. Therefore, with the preparation of basic facilities and other supporting facilities, we hope that tourists can stay longer in Bali.
