JAKARTA – Archipelago International, Southeast Asia's largest privately owned hotel management group, is celebrating its 25th year anniversary since first opening its doors in 1997.
Founder Charles Brookfield once dreamed of creating his own management company after living
in Hawaii for almost 20 years. His goal at that time was to open beachfront property in Bali and a
city-center business hotel in Jakarta.
What started as a few hotels with several hundred rooms is now Southeast East Asia's largest
privately owned hospitality company with more than 150 hotels, with a further 200 hotels under
development across Southeast Asia, the Caribbean, and the Middle East with more than 40,000
room keys in 60 destinations and more than 15,000 employees.

class consumer brand with a portfolio of 11 brands such as ASTON, Collection by ASTON,
Alana, Huxley, Kamuela, Harper, Quest, Neo, favehotel, Nordic and Powered by

“Celebrating 25 years of trustworthy hospitality marks a key milestone in the history of our
company. I have nothing but gratitude to every employee, guest, hotel owner, and franchisee who
supported and believed in us,” says Charles Brookfield as Chairman of Archipelago
International.
“Now the focus is on the future. The lodging and travel industry offers tremendous opportunity
over the long-term and we are ready for the next 25 years and beyond.” he continued.
Archipelago International has grown organically with much success in its home markets over the
last 25 years, while perfecting its brand portfolio, technology, systems, and standards at the same
time. Now, with the capabilities to compete with and outperform any major international hotel
chain, our group is successfully expanding to new global markets while staying true to our Asian
roots and world-renowned Asian hospitality.
Archipelago International is now led by John Flood as President & CEO, bringing the company
further to more extensive development across the globe and, making hotels successful and being
able to work with owners.
“We’ve worked hard over the years to improve and tailor our offering to forward-thinking
owners and developers – for example, we were the first Indonesian hotel operator to achieve ISO
9001 certification. We revolutionized Indonesian e-commerce and consistently deliver the
highest returns on investment and gross operating profits in the industry. We are a cohesive team
that manages the largest marketing spend in the category and actively supports industry-leading
IT systems.” says John Flood as President and CEO of Archipelago International.
Archipelago International has garnered accolades and recognition over the years. The hotel
group was recognized as one of the 100 largest hotel chains in the world by Hotels magazine.
YouGov 2022 Top 10 Travel Brands report ranks ASTON as Indonesia's most known and
respected hotel Brand and number three travel Brand overall. Moreover, it received recognition
