BALI – As a follow up to support the revival of Wellness Tourism in Indonesia, the Indonesia Wellness Spa Professional Association (IWSPA) will hold a training of trainer (ToT) for spa therapists in Bali. As a first step, Monday (28/11/2022) a socialization was held which was held at the Bali Provincial Tourism Office.
The socialization which was held offline and online was attended by spa directors, spa managers and training managers or HRD from 40 five star hotels in Bali. Roger Paulus Silalahi, Chairperson of the IWSPA Bali DPD said, this ToT socialization was a continuation of the activity entitled “IWSPA Reborn – Empowering Ethno Wellness Nusantara” which was held last October.
The ToT, which is planned to be held for the first time on December 8, 2022, is expected to be carried out free of charge for spa therapists in Bali. However, in its implementation later, each ToT will be limited to 50 participants so that the ToT can be attended more optimally. “Because Bali is a pilot project, that’s why the first ToT was held in Bali,” he said.
Online, this socialization was also attended by the Chairperson of the IWSPA DPP Yulia Himawati, the Secretary General of the Wellness and Healthcare Entrepreneur Association (WHEA) Irmawati, and the Head of Human Resources Training at the Indonesian Hotel and Restaurant Association (PHRI) Alexander Nayoan.
In his remarks, Alex Nayoan said that PHRI fully supports efforts to revive Ethno Wellness Nusantara. So that later wellnes spa can host in their own country. “Since Covid-19, spas have suffered a setback. Therefore, now is the time to revive wellness spas as a holistic health therapy,” he said.
Meanwhile, in the question and answer session, musician Oppie Andaresta appeared to be present. Oppie admits that Wellness is not only for health, but has developed into a promising industry. For Oppie, there are many types of wellness as a health therapy. Not only herbs and traditional Indonesian ingredients, but aromatherapy, dance to music, are part of wellness. “We must be proud as Indonesians, because from Sabang to Merauke they have their own way of traditional medicine or wellness that can be developed,” he said.
The Head of the Bali Tourism Office, Tjok Bagus Pemayun, who was present at this socialization activity, said that the ToT for spa therapists is very important as Bali tourism continues to improve. Especially with the revival of Wellness Tourism. According to him, Bali has always had health tourism, and Bali has even become the best spa destination in the world.
With the Empowering Ethno Wellness Nusantara program, Tjok Pemayun hopes that Wellness Tourism can be run even more optimally, and become a special attraction for tourists because Ethno Wellness Nusantara is native to Indonesia’s cultural wealth in the field of health and wellness which deserves to be introduced to world tourism. “With this ToT for therapists, it is hoped that spa services in Bali will be better according to the demands of the times,” he said.***
