Indonesia Successfully Holds ATF 2023, Laos Accepts Chair of ASEAN Tourism Forum 2024

YOGYAKARTA – The Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy/Head of the Tourism and Creative Economy Agency (Menparekraf/Baparekraf), Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno, officially handed over the chairmanship of the ASEAN Tourism Forum for 2024 to Laos.

Symbolically, Menparekraf Sandiaga Uno gave the hammer of leadership to Lao Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism Suanesavanh Vignaket.

Sandiaga in his remarks at the Closing Ceremony of the ASEAN Tourism Forum 2023, at the Marriott Hotel Yogyakarta, Sunday (5/2/2023) was grateful for the opportunity given to lead the course of the tourism forum with ASEAN member countries, partner countries such as ASEAN Plus Three, India, Russia, and ASEAN NTO’s.

Indonesia is said by Sandiagato support and guide Laos in carrying out its role as chairman in the upcoming ASEAN Tourism Forum.

“We hope that Laos will continue to strive to strengthen collaboration with ASEAN member countries and partner countries to encourage growth and create new and quality jobs in the tourism sector,” said Sandiaga.

The handover of this leadership marks the end of the ASEAN Tourism Forum 2023 series of activities in Yogyakarta.

Indonesia’s leadership resulted in a number of agreements to make the ASEAN region the epicenter of global economic growth through the tourism sector.

Among them is increasing the capacity of ASEAN tourism professionals through the Mutual Recognition Arrangement for Tourism Professionals (MRA-TP), increasing the development of responsible, sustainable and inclusive tourism.

On the same time, the Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism of Laos, Suanesavanh Vignaket, was very honored when he received the hammer of leadership of the ASEAN Tourism Forum after Indonesia. So that Laos can play a big role in continuing the tourism sector development agenda in the ASEAN region.

“We will continue to work closely with ASEAN member countries as well as international organizational partners. Because this is very important to match our steps going forward, “said Suanesavanh.

ASEAN Tourism Awarding Ceremony 2023

Indonesia won 20 awards consisting of four categories in the ASEAN Tourism Award 2023. Which is one of the ATF 2023 activities.

This award was given directly by Sandiaga to the award winners shortly before the 2023 ATF closing ceremony took place.

The ASEAN Tourism Award itself is an initiation from ASEAN member countries as a form of appreciation for the efforts made by tourism actors to present superior and quality tourist destinations. So it is hoped that ASEAN will be able to become a single destination.

The 2nd ASEAN Public Toilet Award 2023-2024:

The 3rd ASEAN Community Tourism Award 2023 – 2025:

The 4th ASEAN Homestay Award 2023 – 2025:

– Ngilngof Tourism Village;

– Undisan Tourism Village.
