DENPASAR, ULTIMOPARADISO – The development of tourist village destinations in Bali continues to receive the attention of various groups in order to realize a green village tourism. As done by Dr. Ir. Deddy Kurniawan Halim, MM, Ph.D, or better known as DK Halim from the Bali International Polytechnic, who developed a green tourism village digital marketing application called DeWiKu and the SIDeWi*HuB platform (Sistem Integrasi Desa Wisata HijaU Bali). The DeWiKu application, which is also a pilot project for 30 tourist villages in Bali, was launched at the Bali Tourism Media Center, Bali Provincial Tourism Office, Wednesday (9/8).
Present on the occasion, Head of Bali Provincial Tourism Office – Tjok Bagus Pemayun, Director of Bali International Polytechnic – Prof. Dr. Sulistyawati, Head of LLDIKTI-8 Bali &; NTB region – Dr. Bagus Eratodi, Chairman of Bali Provincial Tourism Village Communication Forum – Made Mendra Astawa, DeWiKu Team and 30 Perbekel/Lurah (Head of Villages) whose the villages became pilot projects of the SIDeWi*HuB platform.
According to DK, the launch of this application and digital platform was motivated by changes in the habits of tourists who currently travel more to rural areas, where initially many tourists stayed overnight in urban areas so that there was an oversupply of hotel rooms in urban areas.
“However, this change in habits is feared to cause environmental damage. Therefore, the purpose of this application and digital platform was developed, one of which is to build an information system that is able to screen about green tourism villages in Bali with the aim of environmental conservation,” he said during the DeWiKu socialization.
DK revealed, from the above problems it concluded that there is no clear system and measurement method related to the standardization of Green Tourism Villages (=Desa Wisata Hijau = DWH) in Bali, there is no coordination and system that bridges DWH throughout Bali due to the lack of involvement from the Tourism Office and related tourism village forums, and there is no integrated media and information system between DWH and Pondok Wisata (home stay) and the potential for green tourism attraction packages on it.
For this reason, it proposes the SIDeWi*HuB platform which consists of three stages, namely assessment, registration, and commercial or branding/marketing.
“The screening of tourist villages is in accordance with DWH requirements. After registration, DWH who has met the requirements will enter the registration stage or product listing which includes homestays, green tourist attraction packages, and so on. At the branding/marketing stage, tourists can make integrated reservations that will be monitored by DeWiKu Operators, Tourism Office, and the green tourism village concerned,” he explained.
On the same occasion, The Head of Bali Tourism Office, Tjok Bagus Pemayun appreciated this activity in accordance with the vision of the Bali Provincial government, especially since this digital platform is quite important for DWH standardization.
“Everything has to have a standard. What kind of green? Is it because there are trees so green? It must all be clear parameters,” he said.
Tjok Bagus Pemayun admitted that the development of this application and digital platform helped the government to promote tourism villages, especially since Bali already has green regulations such as source-based waste and so on, which were echoed during the G20.
Tjok Pemayun also gave an appeal for tourism villages such as not bringing investors to build hotels but taking advantage of empty rooms at home to be used as homestays so as not to change green spaces in the countryside, and still maintain culture and nature.
Also involved as a researcher until the realization of this platform is Dr. Ni Nyoman Sri Astuti, SST. Par., M.Par, from Bali Polytechnic, Dr. Ersy Ervina, S.Sos., MM.Par from Telkom University Bandung, Sri Ngudi Wahyuni, ST. M.Kom. from AMIKOM University Yogyakarta, Dinar Sukma Pramesti, ST. MT and Dwi Novita C Permatasari, SIP, MA, MBA, both from Polytechnic International Bali.
Meanwhile, the Head of Forum Communicaton of Tourism Village Bali (Forkom Desa Wisata Bali), Made Mendra Astawa admitted that he was happy and appreciated the existence of this platform. This is a tireless effort and struggle that wants to make tourism villages develop and the economy of rural communities develops, and hopes that in the future all 238 tourist villages in Bali can be included in this platform.
“We appreciate and support this platform. This is only 30 villages, we hope that 238 villages will participate in this platform. And for this reason, the task of Mr. DK Halim and team is to help provide assessments so that all villages in Bali are included in the DeWiKu application and the SIDeWi*HuB platform,” said Mendra Astawa. ****
