BALI, ULTIMOPARADISO.COM – A beautiful and sunny day, especially in the Tanjung Benoa tourist area, Bali. The weather was very friendly and we go to meet the General Manager of the Hotel Nikko Bali Benoa Beach. He is Takashi Hoshino. He is from Japan who since August 22 2022 has been trusted to be the General Manager of one of the 5 Star hotels in the Tanjung Benoa Tourist Area, Bali.
Takashi is very familiar. He greeted us kindly. His speech was very soft, regular and impressive. His speaking style is not much different from the average Japanese person that I met in Bali who usually belongs to the Japanese community in Bali.
We opened the conversation enthusiastically. Talking about many things accompanied by fresh orange juice. It seems that Takashi Hoshino really maintains a healthy lifestyle in terms of his food.
We talked about many things, from career, family, Hotel Nikko Bali Benoa Beach to Bali and the prospects for Bali tourism in 2024.
In the conversation, Takashi Hoshino said he had been a hotelier with more than 21 years of experience. A very mature career age in the hospitality world.
He started his career with a hotel operations training program at several hotels managed by Okura Nikko Hotels and Savoy Group in Japan and London, England. Before joining Hotel Nikko Bali Benoa Beach, Takashi Hoshino joined the pre-opening team at several hotels managed by Okura Nikko Hotels.
When he was trusted to be the General Manager of Nikko Bali Benoa Beach, Takashi only hoped that he could make the best contribution to this hotel.
“I felt honored when I was trusted to be the General Manager of the Hotel Nikko Bali Benoa Beach. I enjoy working here, especially since there are challenges in the recovery of Bali tourism after the Covid 19 pandemic. This hotel is good, there is an energetic team, the location is attractive with this beautiful white sandy beach. “I’m sure many tourists will like and come to stay at this hotel,” said Takashi when he was first appointed as General Manager last August 2022.
What’s more interesting than that is that the General Manager, who has started to speak Indonesian, admits that he really loves Bali. “I love living and working in Bali. Bali is unique, has high culture, has beautiful nature. And more than that, the Balinese people are very friendly. “That’s what makes me like and feel at home living in Bali,” explained Takashi.
Our conversation didn’t stop there. Takashi also talked about many things, especially post-pandemic Bali tourism and Japanese tourists. Japanese tourists are important because before Covid, the Hotel Nikko Bali Benoa Beach had its main market as Japanese people. However, now the market for tourists staying at the Hotel Nikko Bali Benoa Beach has shifted somewhat.
Around 20 percent of tourists who stay at this hotel come from the domestic market. Next are European, Australian and Asian tourists. The Japanese market remains challenging. Only now it needs more effort, especially aviation and also because the domestic economic condition of the Japanese community has not yet recovered. Takashi is confident that if the Japanese economy recovers and direct flights from other airlines besides Garuda begin to reopen, Japanese tourists will return to Bali in large numbers. And of course, stay at the Hotel Nikko Bali Benoa Beach.
For the European market, Hotel Nikko Bali Benoa Beach is also greatly helped by the Nikko hotel network throughout the world, because travel agents in Europe always support, especially French and Eastern European tourists.
Apart from that, according to Takashi Hoshino, tourists from the Middle East are also starting to increase their stay at the Hotel Nikko Bali Benoa Beach. He hopes that tourists from the Middle East will continue to grow and make Bali their choice for vacation.
At the end of his conversation, Takashi hoped that Bali tourism could recover soon, more tourists would visit, and Bali’s economy would continue to grow. And the hope is for the government to improve infrastructure to reduce traffic jams that are starting to occur frequently. And to the Balinese people, Takashi hopes that they will continue to protect their nature and culture so that they remain beautiful and sustainable. ***igo/selvi
