BALI, ULTIMOPARADISO.COM – Bali Governor Wayan Koster attended the 65th birthday celebration of Japanese Emperor Naruhito at the Ayana Hotel, Jimbaran, on Friday, February 28, 2025.
The event, organized by the Consulate General of Japan in Denpasar, served as a platform to strengthen cooperation between Japan and Bali across various sectors.
“Happy Birthday to His Majesty the Emperor of Japan,” Governor Koster briefly said to the Japanese Consul General while toasting in front of the invited guests.
In his speech, the Japanese Consul General, Katsutoshi Miyakawa, emphasized the importance of the longstanding cooperation between Bali and Japan.
“Japan and Bali share close ties in various fields, including infrastructure, economy, and environment. We hope this cooperation will continue to grow for our mutual benefit,” he stated.
One of the key projects highlighted in this bilateral relationship is the Phase II Beach Conservation Project, a collaboration between Indonesia’s Ministry of Public Works and Housing (PUPR) and the Japanese government. This project includes conservation efforts at Legian-Seminyak Beach (Badung), Candidasa Beach (Karangasem), and Tanjung Benoa (Badung) to prevent coastal erosion and protect the marine ecosystem.
Additionally, Japanese investments in Bali are also expanding. In January 2025, PT Indonesian Paradise Property Tbk partnered with Hankyu Hanshin Properties to develop the Sahid Kuta Lifestyle Resort commercial area.
“We see great potential in Bali, especially in tourism and commercial development. Through this partnership, we hope to make a positive contribution to Bali’s economy,” Miyakawa said.
The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) has also played a significant role in various development projects in Bali, including environmental conservation and infrastructure improvements.
“JICA remains committed to supporting various development initiatives in Bali. We want to ensure that this cooperation has a tangible impact on the local community,” Miyakawa concluded.***
