BALI, ULTIMOPARADISO.COM  – Following a successful press conference held today at Icon Bali Mall, the Bali International Film Festival (Balinale) proudly shared major milestones for its 18th edition, taking place from 1–7 June 2025. This year marks a historic moment as Balinale relocates to its new home in Sanur, partnering with Icon Bali Mall and The Meru Sanur to elevate the festival experience while supporting Bali’s growing reputation as a global cultural hub.

Deborah Gabinetti, Founder and Festival Director, opened the event by highlighting Balinale’s growth into an internationally recognized Oscar® Qualifying Film Festival and the strategic decision to relocate to Sanur. “Through storytelling and cultural collaboration, Sanur is no longer just a destination – it becomes a living source of inspiration for the world,” she said.

Ida Bagus Gede Sidharta Putra (Gusde), Chairman of Yayasan Pembangunan Sanur, emphasized Sanur’s evolving identity, noting that Balinale’s presence aligns perfectly with the vision of transforming Sanur into a world-class destination for arts, wellness, and creative industries, while preserving its rich cultural heritage within the Sanur Health and Wellness
Tourism Special Economic Zone (SEZ).

Adding to the excitement, Ed Brea, General Manager of The Meru Sanur, expressed pride in hosting international guests and supporting the festival's celebration of global storytelling.

“The Meru Sanur is honored to partner with Balinale to showcase the true spirit of Balinese luxury, sustainability, and cultural hospitality,” he remarked.

Highlighting the broader economic impact, Trisno Nugroho, Economic & Tourism Expert, underscored the vital role of film in driving the creative economy.

“Bali Province is actively expanding its creative economy mission across 17 sectors, and film serves as an important bridge – not only in promoting destinations but also in energizing the broader creative industry. Balinale exemplifies how film can stimulate economic vitality, create jobs, and open new opportunities, especially for Bali.” he commented.

NEW HOME, NEW HORIZONS
The newly opened Icon Bali Mall will serve as the festival’s official venue and cinema partner, featuring Cinema XXI’s modern facilities, including a four-studio multiplex and IMAX theater. The Meru Sanur, an all-suite luxury beachfront resort, will host festival dignitaries, the Awards Night Celebration, and the iconic Closing Night open-air cinema
(layar tancap) experience.

Building on its strong tradition, Balinale 2025 will feature a dynamic program of Indonesian and international films, industry forums, and community-based cultural events. The Festival Program will be announced on 10 May 2025, with tickets available through Tix.id.
