BALI, ULTIMOPARADISO.COM – ARTOTEL Sanur – Bali once again held a solo Art Exhibition in collaboration with Jakarta artist, Ferdy Thaeras. This exhibition is titled Cosmic Echoes. The exhibition opened on July 3, 2024, at ARTSPACE ARTOTEL Sanur -Bali.
The title Cosmic Echoes refers to the faint signals or waves that travel through space. From an artist’s perspective, people often navigate life by predicting things through astrology, horoscopes, or even sky readings. For example, by looking at the orbits and positions of planets, from harvest and farming decisions, financial deals, or even romance predictions.
In this exhibition, Ferdy Thaeras transforms traumatic or joyous events in his life into abstract expressionist paintings. Remarkably, most of these big decisions began with the random act of asking the stars and the universe for life predictions. According to him, cosmic energy only shows what can happen, but only humans decide what actions to take, including bearing the risks and impacts of their actions.
Working since 2005, Ferdy Thaeras practices multidisciplinary art that includes painting and body posing. As well as exploring his interconnected background as an artist, model, and fashion editor in the fashion industry. He has explored a lot in Yogyakarta and Jakarta. Past exhibitions include solo exhibition Lustrate, performance art Remembering, group exhibition Flashback, and Artist Talk Critique of Supremacy from the Bedroom.
