LOMBOK, ULTIMOPARADISO.COM – With the highly anticipated MotoGP 2024 just around the corner, Senggigi in West Lombok is bracing itself for an influx of tourists eager to witness the thrilling spectacle at the nearby Mandalika Circuit. As preparations are in full swing, Merumatta HigHotels Senggigi Lombok stands ready to extend a warm welcome to these racing enthusiasts.

During the Ekajaya Matra Lunching event held on Friday, July 19, 2024, I Made Dastra, Assistant Director of Sales and Marketing at Merumatta HigHotel, revealed that their rooms have been fully booked for three months in anticipation of the MotoGP event.

“For the MotoGP event, all our rooms at Merumatta have been booked three months ago,” Dastra explained. “Even other hotels in Senggigi, Mataram, and Kuta have closed their bookings, with Kuta’s bookings closing more recently. As for Sawangan and other areas, we believe they are still open for reservations.”

Dastra acknowledged that Senggigi has been steadily regaining its popularity among both domestic and international tourists, following a period of decline during the COVID-19 pandemic. The region, once a renowned tourist destination, experienced a downturn due to the global health crisis. However, post-COVID, Senggigi has embarked on a revitalization effort, focusing on infrastructure and harbor improvements.

“Senggigi is the main tourist destination in West Lombok,” Dastra elaborated. “Currently, the area is dominated by foreign tourists from countries like France, the Netherlands, Germany, and Russia. Back in the 90s, Senggigi was a thriving destination. But during COVID-19, the area came to a standstill. Now, we are rebuilding, including our tourism villages. Only 75% of the post-COVID recovery has been completed, but we are confident that by 2025, everything will be back on track, including Merumatta.”

Strategically located along Pantai Senggigi in Batu Layar District, West Lombok, Nusa Tenggara Barat, Merumatta Senggigi Lombok boasts a rich history, having been established in 1988 and undergoing its last renovation in 2015.

“Merumatta has 166 rooms and is currently dominated by European tourists, particularly from France and the Netherlands,” Dastra shared. “For this July, our occupancy rate is already at 87%. We still have two weeks to reach 90% occupancy. We are hopeful that with the introduction of Ekajaya Matra, which reduces the travel time to Senggigi to just 1.5-2 hours, Senggigi will once again become a favorite destination for both local and international tourists,” he concluded.

Merumatta Senggigi Lombok stands poised to provide an exceptional hospitality experience, ensuring that every guest feels welcomed and comfortable during their stay in this beautiful island paradise.***Sandra G.
